  • June 7 Club Ride

This coming Saturday (June 7), I have been asked to conduct a ride in NW Alabama and NE Mississippi. We will leave Natural Bridge Restaurant at 9:00 am Sat. morning. We are going to eat breakfast about 8:00 so we can be fueled and ready to go by 9:00. This ride will be mostly on back roads thru the country side (moderately paced), hopefully on roads you haven't seen before.
We plan to stop for lunch in Guin, AL for BBQ and sandwiches. We will continue on thru Fayette, Berry and Oakman, AL. After approx. 250 miles, we plan to return to Natural Bridge by 3:00 - 3:30 pm. If you plan to attend, please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Paul Thorne

          Paul and Gail,

I would love to be able to join you on your ride but it doesn't look like I will be able to. If things change, I'll be there. But have a wonderful and safe ride.

                Morning Puddin.

In that I am not a morning person, I plan to take the slab to I 65 Exit 264 -41st -(Danial Payne Dr). to Cherry Ave. to the new 78, then Hwy 13 to Natural Bridge. This is the quickest route. If time permits, might take CR 11 through Nauvoo to Hwy 5 then to Natural Bridge.

Hope we can meet up. I will top off at the BP (I 65 exit 247, Valley Dale) at 6 am. Nagy ll told me it would take 1 hour 40 minutes to get to Natural Bridge. I will call Terry and Joan to see if they can go. Any one else planning to go on Paul & Gail's ride are welcome to to join us too.

                  Riding from the B'ham area

We are in Gardendale and get on the new road (Corridor X- 78) from Cherry Ave too. How long might it take to get to that point from Valley Dale?

Depending on traffic, the time it takes to get to Cherry Ave. from Valleydale Road is 22 minutes.

                        Paul & Gail,
You put together a most enjoyable ride. The roads and scenery were great and the pace was just right (especially after lunch). You had a good turn out to an area of the state and MS that bears more riding from my viewpoint.
                        Thanks,
                        Gary

I agree Gary. However I got so "sick" of it, I had to bail out early! Just kidding guys..it was a great ride and I appreciate your work on it! As Gary said, that is an area that I have only run through on the main roads. There were some beautiful views off the ridges. As I said to Paul, I couldn't help but wonder just where all those dirt roads went off to that we passed...can you say dual sport ride???? Thanks again for all your work...I enjoyed it!

Yes, thank you for a great ride. We really enjoyed the views and group dynamic. It was good also for Ken and I to help get us ready for our trip to Indiana. We did a couple of extra miles before going home so our total mileage for the day was over 400. We plan to divide the trip into two segments and stay off the Interstates, so we will see some of the great scenery of northern AL, TN, KY and IN.
