    Leaving Friday for Shellmound

    Gator,

Bruce and I live in Tuscaloosa, and where planning on leaving for Shellmound on Friday morning. We would love to have you and Wanda travel along with us.

Bruce and I were planning on taking the interstate highway, going up I-59, to I-24, in order to get there fairly early. We are pulling a trailer, so we can make better time on the interstate.

We are thinking about starting out around 6:30 am. Planning on about 5 hours to get to Shellmound. Setup up camp, grab some lunch, and hopefully have time for a ride to Lookout Mt.

If you and Wanda are interested, just let me know and give us your phone number and we can set a place to meet up with you guys.

I know 6:30 AM maybe a little early for some, but my Bruce is ex Army, and likes to be the early worm.

Sounds great Linda. I don't know exaxtly what time we'll be getting into Tuscaloosa, probably around 6 P.M. Thursday. I can give you a call once we get checked in to a motel. I'll take my club membership book along so I'll have your telephone number. And 6:30 A.M is not a problem, in fact that's what time we had planned to get on the road anyway. And we were also going to take I-59 and I-24 to get to Shellmound so that's not a problem either. We'll call you when we get there to make arrangements to meet.

WE had a great time at Shellmound. Thank you Tommy and Jeannine. On our way home we traced the northern protion of the All-Around Alabama ride backwards to the house from Stevenson. We stopped by the Helton Memorial Chapel for church services. The music was old time mountain gospel style with about 9 songs sung. What a treat. They also asked us to stay for dinner on the church grounds but we really had to get home. On CR 55 we stopped by the yard art "Rock Zoo" and took a few photos. Gary, thanks for the Rock Zoo photos.

I haven't been back there sense we rode the All Around Alabama Challenge and wondered what the individual painted rocks looked like. That is a sight to see for sure and great roads to ride to get there.

Wanda and I had a great time at the meeting at Shellmound, It was good to get together with everyone again. We even got to actually make one of the rides this year. Thanks Martin for a great ride over some fantastic roads and to some very interesting places. And thanks Tommy and Jeannine and to all who helped with the great meal Saturday night. It was delicious. We had a great trip into the Smokies again this year after we left the meeting on Sunday. We were blessed with fantastic weather for the entire trip, cool temps and no rain all week. We just made our plans up as we travelled. We stayed in Gatlinburg two nights, in Maggie Valley two nights, in Townsend one night and in Fort Payne one night on the way home. We got back Saturday afternoon around 4 P.M. safely with no trouble or mishaps. I have attached a link to the photos of the Shellmound meeting and some of our trip photos.
