  • Eldridge Children's Home Ride IN

www.eldridgetoyrun.com , not just a toy run, a benefit for a Children's home.... We now have PayPal for the quick and easy donations... see donations page.

Our annual Eldridge Children's Home Ride In will be as always the "First Saturday in December", this year that day fall on Dec. 6th, 2008.

    Located in NW Alabama.

We give a Long Distance Rider Award, your name is engraved on a plaque that in the hallway of the home, see below how the LD rider mileage works.

This is a benefit for the home, a scholarship has been established in the name of "Ron Melton" we have given one scholarship thus far in Ron's name....Ron rode in support of the home each years before his death.

There will be a lunch provided at the home beginning at about 11 AM, come and visit the campus of this Children's home, see the kids and see how your donations are used.

    Long Distance Rider Award

Long distance rider award, here how it works, you can ride in, count your miles, if you pick up a donation from someone, count that leg as your milage as well, heck pick up two donations... so if are in Birmingham and want to ride up a pick up John Doe's donation in Chicago and then ride over to St. Louis and get Sue Doe's donation, just count your mileage.

All these donations will go directly to the Scholarship Fund.

      Don,
I will be there! While we will not be able to be there on Friday night, I will again lead a ride from the Pelham / Bham area. My challenge is to all fellow club members in the area to join the ride with me. Normally this is on the club Christmas party weekend but that is not the case this year.

I will lead a ride that will go up Mud Creek Road, Lock 17 and the Mulberry Fork Wildlife refuge into Walker County and back roads up to Eldridge. The ride home will be 78 to Parrish and into Birmingport and Pelham. we will depart in time to arrive in Eldridge between 11:30 & 12:00 noon. We should be back in Pelham around 4 PM or so.

So anyone interested in going just post here or contact me directly. This is a very special event that will benefit these kids I'll bet it will benefit you too! Let's hope for good weather and a great turnout!

            Martin,
Sorry this has taken so long....ben out of town. We will be leaving from the BP /Kentucky Fried Chicken store at I-65 & 119 at 8 AM. the ride up is about 100 miles and the GPS says right at 3 hours. This will give us time arrive at the home in plenty to join the festivities. I have attached the route if you want to take a look.
Depending on how long we stay we can come back the same way or a couple others! Should be a great time. Round up others if you can!

I should be able to make this one. My wife is trying to change a day in her work schedule. Hopefully that will workout and I will be good to go.

Let me hear from those who want to ride from the Pelham / Helena area. I would like to know how many to expect. We will meet for breakfast (I have a couple places in mind) and be ready to ride at 8AM. This will give us the time to enjoy the ride up and be there on time! Either let me know here or by email. I will finalize the plan by Wed night to let everyone know! Come on...let's ride!

Thanks Noah...I enjoyed the ride too! It was a bit chilly this morning but it turned out to be a great day. I appreciate you guys going along to support the event. Thanks to those that could not go along but sent donations. I know they will be appreciated. I look forward to a report from Don to let us know just how much money was raised this year!

All right, be honest ya'll had never been on some of those roads...especially that Horseshoe Mountain Lake Road or whatever it was...When you go with me you never know what you will run into..but Martin and Terry made their RTs look a lot like GSs didn't they?

It did get really nce about the time we got home huh?? Thanks guys for a great day!

                          Thanks guys!

Thanks for coming up and helping making our annual benefit a huge success in these downswing, recession times, but the need is still there for these children and folks like you make it possible for the home to provide a good home and care for these kids. My heart felt thanks!

Looks like we going to break $36,000 in donations and another $2000 for the scholarship fund.

Hope you guys got plenty to eat and enjoyed meeting the folks there. Sorry I didn't get to visit more, but when the riders arrive, things happen quickly.

sorry for the GS ride over the mountain...Terry can tell you and now you know when you go with me no telling what we'll get into! I had my doubts there for a minute but it worked out OK I guess. Remember, I told you I would show you roads you had never been on (not to mention some you never want to be on again!)

Norwood reports a record amount of money raised...about 36K!! That is what I am talking about! Thanks again guys for going and maybe next year we can do it again!! I'll even volunteer to plan the route
