January 2009 Meeting in Montevallo

We are going to try and make the meeting in Montevallo at the Traffic Center Jan 31 and wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions on lodging in the area for Sat night.

Not sure if it is available this year, but here is the information from last year. Not sure if the prices have changed.

There are dorm rooms available at the Ramsey Hall just up the street from the Safety Center. It’s within walking distance.

Details on rooms:

Hotel like rooms, with TV, 2 twin beds, air and or heat, no phones in rooms and they are $35.00 per night. Call 205-665-6280 for reservations. The “office” is open from 8AM to 5PM so you should arrive and get checked in by 5PM or CALL THEM AND TELL THEM YOU WILL BE LATE AND MAKE SOME KIND OF ARRANGEMENTS FOR GETTING YOUR ROOM KEY.

Not a luxury suite but I stayed there last year and it was clean and convenient.

And if you are into camping, you are welcomed to "camp" inside the Safety Center. Usually some do!

Check your dates for the Jan. 2009 monthly club meeting. The dates in our November, 2008 newsletter are Jan. 24 & 25.

What are the dates? The newsletter says one week-end and the web-site says another.

If my memory is correct, the meeting date was moved back one weekend to the 24th and 25th because of our cruising Alabeemer's scheduled return the last weeked of January.

The Nov. newsletter date was incorrect. The cruise returns on the week end of the 24th so the meeting was moved to the 31st. The online info was correct.

Greg, I just want to chime in to say that Bob is exactly right, the January meeting was moved to January 31 - February 1 to accomodate the cruise. Since both the President and Vice President will be on the cruise it is prudent that the meeting be moved.

I regret that the date was incorrect in the newsletter. It was corrected at one time but due to a processing problem with the newsletter (read editor screw-up) the date reverted to the original posted date. I will post a notice of correction in the January newsletter. Sorry for the confusion.

No apologies necessary Jamie. I'm glad that I am not the only one that has "haints" in my computer like when I send you an xl file thinking a word file was attached. Had I looked at my calendar, I would have realized that the Jan 31 date was correct, because we would not have set a meeting date with a Sunday falling in the next month. Your information is always spot on, and I didn't look any where else. Actually, I thought the date was changed after the November newsletter went to press.

It's good that Greg mentioned the 1/31 date so no one will think it is 24/25 Jan.

Thanks guys for the info. I am trying to make the meeting and the end of the month is the time I have off. I wish I could make the cruise also, but will look forward to the photos and stories.
