I will be leading a lunch ride on Saturday to the Smoky Mountain Diner in Hot Springs. This will be a leisurely, scenic ride. See you there.

... after 16 consecutive meetings (since the October 2009 meeting near Atmore) ~ I have come up short on road-trip cash after the Barber Superbike Classic this last weekend. As much as I want to, I don't see where I will be able to make it

I hope everyone got home OK from the meeting today considering the storms in the area. Tim Flynn and I completed our "swim" home at about 6PM. Wow did we get wet...and wet was not the worst of it...we had to take cover for about an hour in Leesburg. Rain is one thing...but 60 mph swirling winds is quite another! Soaked going up on Friday and soaked coming home today...oh well..it was beautiful in the mountains yesterday!

This was the smallest turnout I have seen for this meeting. We had 14 folks at the meeting this morning. However J and the crew did a great job for us. This remains one of my favorite places to visit. Can't wait to go back!

Vance, glad you and Tim made it back ok. To bad about the rain and storm. I made it home on Saturday with no rain, but it got hot before I arrived.

Here are some pictures from my ride up and around and back home.

john & I got soaked twice. I don't mind cold and I don't mind wet but cold, wet combined with those 60 mile gust that want to blow you right off the road are a bit much. We were able to take refuge in S Pittsburg/ Bridgeport for a calming cappucino, to wait it out. Still the BRMCC is one of my favorite places on the plantet. J did a fabulous job. Thanks for the pictures Martin.

So sorry we couldn't be there. I returned from Missoula Sunday morning and we had to make a wide berth around the weather that was coming down from the north. At the time I was wondering how y'all were going to fare coming home. Yes that is one of our favorite places to be in the summer and was surprised to hear of the small turnout. Hope that doesn't discourage us from having the meeting there next year since I will be retired then.
