  • Devil's Triangle in August

I am planing a three day riding and camping trip to include the Devil's Triangle and Sgt. Alvin York's home. I plan to camp at Cumberland Mountain State Park.

Cumberland Mountain State Park is renowned for the "The All You Can Eat Catfish" it serves every Friday. The buffet includes a full salad bar and other hot vegetables. Of course, you need to save room for various homemade desserts - especially the banana pudding, made from scratch!

I plan to leave on Thursday, August 18, ride the triangle on Friday and return on Saturday. Here are the routes that I put together Devil's_Triangle_York.gdb.

Let me know who is in on this ride.

Martin, Paul Orr just called me. He is having trouble posting to the site but expressed interest in participating in this ride. Please keep him in the loop (or is it the triangle?? )

Here is more on the ride to the Devil's Triangle.

For those in the Birmingham area, we will leave the Shell Station at 6:00 AM on Thursday, Aug 18. The Shell is at Hwy 119 (Cahaba Valley Road) and I-65 in Pelham. This is the one with the KFC.

For those that wish to join us, we will stop for breakfast at the Cracker Barrel in Cullman. This is at exit 310 on I 65 (Hwy 157). We should be here about 7:15.

We will stop for gas and pit stop in Gurley on US 72. There is an Exxon station on the south side of US 72. We should be there about 9:00 to 9:30 am.

From the stop in Gurley, it will three days of good riding on mostly two lane roads.

I look forward to see you Thursday. If any questions, just give me a call.

I have attached updated gps routes. Devil's_Triangle_York.gdb

Is the Exxon on 431 south of Gurley? It's the only one I can find.
