I realize that....rougly four weeks now. But, does no one here plan anything in advance ? I mean, anyone going would have needed to make their hotel reservation by now.

        Well.....never mind.

          Hey Ric,
There is lots of things planned in advance at the club meetings. One of which is that there will be a BMW club booth at Barbers just like last year. The members that manned the booth were mostly from the Birmingham area. Also you can read the monthly news letter which is available on this website to view future events. I don't recall seeing any of the Huntsville members at Barbers last year so it's not a surprise that you didn't get a response from your invitation to ride down there. Come to some meetings and meet up with folks and you will find out that we are actually a bunch of friendly people.

                You got that right !!!

One shift and you get a free ticket. Used to be a whole weekend pass, but not sure of the freebies this time. Museum workers usually get breakfast and lunch if they volunteer for an early morning shift. Last time I did that, I got breakfast, lunch, a three day pass, and a Barbers pin. Seemed to me that the museum volunteers made out better than those who volunteered for the park. But hey, I haven't looked up the rules this year.

And yes, the club will have a booth. We will be selling the raffle tickets and will have bikes on display. We will need as many people as can come and spend time to help man the booth and sell the tickets. So please consider spending part of your time out there in the club booth. We sold almost $2000 worth of tickets last year, and that was enough that we were able to split the sales between the folks that helped out so they earned their Chicken Rally free entries.
That's worth $45.00 you know. So if you can come and get a few books sold from the booth we will do the same thing again this year as long as we sell enough to cover 4 books per person who helps. It wasn't hard to do last year and I hope we can clear enough to do the same this year for those who help.

                  Volunteering at Barbers ...

I volunteered to work for Barbers at the 2011 Superbike Classic, and the Vintage Festival too. There is a $30. - $35. fee to volunteer. I initially had issues with "paying" to volunteer, - but in the end one gets way more value than the small fee that they paid.

"If" you work the morning shift, you get a free breakfast of whatever is brought out. It was doughnuts, coffee and snacks at the Superbike, - and it was assorted breakfast biscuits and coffee at the Vintage Festival. Throughout the day, volunteers are brought ice-cold waters or soda's. At about $2. to $3.00 each on sight, - I easily drank well over $20. worth each day that I worked. No matter what shift you work, you receive a meal voucher for any 5-Star vendor on sight for a sandwich, side item, and drink of your choice. That was worth about $11. to $12.00 at this Vintage Festival. In addition, every volunteer receives a free event shirt worth about $10., a free event hat worth about $15., and an all access pass for the weekend worth about $75. to $85.00 !!!
