Here is a link for more information and photos of the Davis Ferry.

Provided are pictures taken August 2010 of the old cable ferry that operated at Davis Ferry on the Alabama River at Haines Island in west Monroe County. This ferry was taken out of service in 2013 and it is now on display at the Gee’s Bend Ferry Terminal and Welcome Center at Boykin, AL in […]

Jamie, I hope your vision is 20/20.

I'll meet everyone at Pensacola BMW Saturday and ride back to the Park with the group. See everyone then.
PS..Sanford Colley will ride down with me on Saturday.

The Davis Ferry news is not good. She is high and dry on land. A more modern ferry boat will be in operation when new structure at the site is complete. We will go to Little River from Camden on Hwy 41 to Franklin then Perdue Hill and Frisco City.

Bob, thanks for remembering. My left eye is pretty close to 20/20 and everything is very bright and crisp. I will get my right transplant next Monday (after the meeting). It is really a facinating process.

I have just spoken with Tod Shuls at BMW Pensacola and they are realyl excited about our visit on Saturday. He will be providing lunch for us and will also have several demo bikes available including the new 12GS "Waterhead" a K1600GTL and even a Guzzi or two.

We will need to leave the campground on Saturday morning by 8 AM in order to take a leisurely ride down to Pensacola and arrive at about 10:30 for the festivities to begin. Who knows there may even be a few MOA door prizes to give away...and who knows what else will happen.

I hope you will make your plans now to ride down with us or meet us there and ride back to Little River. IT sounds like it is going to be a really fun day!If you know you are going to be there at the dealership, please let me know as I an trying to get an idea of how many mouths we will need to feed!

I look forward to seeing you there!

Thanks to everyone that participated in the ride down to Pensacola and those who visited Tod and the guys at the dealership. We had a great ride down there from Little River! Granted it started out a little chilly but quickly warmed with sun breaking the horizon. We wound our way through forests of tall pines and large fields of cotton and peanuts being harvested with armies of huge combines as they crisscrossed the fields kicking up huge clouds of dust in their wake. We wound our way down AL59 and into Stockton under that massive canopy of oak trees that welcomes you to town.

Once we arrived at BMW Pensacola we were welcomed with brats, kraut and German potato salad by the entire staff. They were gracious hosts and even conducted a shop tour for us.

We headed back in the warm sun on a direct route back to the campground...where the Bonner brothers and their entire cooking team absolutely outdid themselves once again! A huge thank you goes to Rickie, Lila, Harry, Celina, John Stanley and Bill the "Fish Man" for his cooking prowess. It was a great meeting coupled with a great ride and to me...that combination is hard to beat! Thanks again to everybody...it was great to see you all!

Great riding weekend. Thanks to Bob for putting together the ride down. I especially enjoyed the ferry ride. Food and accommodations were fantastic. Since we did not have enough excitement having to jump multiple bikes with low batteries due to the cold on Saturday (to include mine). We decided to have a tire plugging tech session on the way home on Sunday. Tim managed to pick up a nice trophy in his tire.

What a fun weekend at Little River Forest SP. It was good seeing everyone again and we had a great time at the get together. The ride to Pensecola Saturday morning could not have been better although a little chilly to start. We enjoyed the visit to the BMW dealership and the food served while we were there. Thanks again to Rickie, Lila, Harry, Celina, John Stanly. and Bill for putting together a great weekend get together and for the delicious food that was prepared. Y'all really outdid yourselves. Wanda and I stayed over at Little River Sunday night and kept Rickie and Lila company. We left this morning for home around 8:30 A.M. after having breakfast with the Bonners. We took our time riding back and stopped over in Bay St. Louis for lunch and arrived home at around 3 P.M. Here is a link to a few pictures from the weekend.
