  • Last Ride Of The Year !

The annual Last Ride Of The Year is scheduled for Monday December 30. For those not familiar this is a great gathering of riders from all over the country, ending at the Stagecoach Restaurant in Stockton, AL. Ride in from wherever, see your old friends, make some new ones....see all kinds of bikes...and ride out!
I am wondering who might be planning to go...and who might want to ride down from the Birmingham area. Normally Martin leads a great ride down but he cannot attend this year. I am hoping to be able to make but I won't know until the end of this week...work stuff...
I just checked the weather and it looks great right now. If that holds, I predict a great turnout!

If the weather's good (meaning no rain or snow), I'm about 90% sure to go.

Great Jack. If I can get the deck cleared by week's end we may ride down and stay somewhere down there along the beach on Monday night...weather and time permitting of course!

Weather continues to look good for Monday -- about 34 degF at time to leave, warming up as you go south. Return temp (Sundown) about the same as leaving temps. Sounds like it will be right for the electrics!

It was a good day for a ride to the Stagecoach! Didn't see too many of the Alabeemers, other than a few of the usual suspects (John Harrison & Mike Greenwood). If you were there and I missed you, sorry! I would have loved to at least have said "Hello!" to you. Of course, the Stagecoach did an outstanding job serving the 100's of people that ride in. John said he thought that there were probably 500+ in attendance this year. 460 miles from my garage to the Stagecoach & back.

Paul & I were there...early for breakfast. We saw John Harrison and Paul from Mobile, who is a great photographer and I think, newest member. We were there Sunday with the MTF group spending the night in Bay Minette. We left Stockton around 9:30 am Mon., so as to avoid the usual invasion of straight pipe, leather clad "bikers" that usually show up there. It was a cold, cloudy winter day but the Gerbings worked great! Great ride home with our friend from Mantee, MS. Gail

Gail, I thought you and Paul would be there, but I missed you! Don't know Paul from Mobile that well yet, so wouldn't have recognized him. I arrived about 11am, Mike Greenwood and some friends of his from the FloraBama riders showed up about 11:10. There was a the large crowd of H-D's out there, but no line in the Stagecoach. We walked right in, through the line (absolutely no waiting!), and were back outside kicking tires and telling lies by 12n. I was on the road back to Birmingham by 1pm. I did get behind 3 separate groups of H-D riders who needed to learn how to ride. I'm not sure the lead group ever reached the speed limit, and anytime the road looked like it might curve, they all dropped their speed by another 15-20mph. Boy, was I ever glad when they pulled off to fuel up! (And so were the dozen car drivers between the separate groups of H-D's!)

Glad ya'll had a good trip and got back safely.

Sorry I missed a couple of you at the Last Ride of the Year. Being new, I have not attached names to faces to bikes, yet.

Here are a couple of photos of folks you might know...
