I have been asked to help in planning another trip to the Starkville Civil War Arsenal and Museum. We did this a couple of years ago with great success. This is a busy time for Duffy Neubauer, the Curator of this museum. There are not a lot of weekend slots open. As of now, June the 19th or 20th or possibly both can be done. A couple of people have indicated Friday the 19th was best for them. Does anyone have an interest and if so what day. Perhaps a RTE and a overnite? Let me know. Paul Thorne

I'm in and can go either day. I slightly prefer Friday but if not overcrowded I might go twice. That's how much I enjoyed this visit the first time around. I cannot recommend this enough. The collection is extraordinary but the way Duffy presents it and his remarkable level of knowledge and technical expertise make this a visit no one will forget.
Thanks Paul and Gail for facilitating this,
David Hogg

oh yeah, I went on the first one and this is a really fun trip. I would be interested in that weekend but Saturday would probably be a better day for me since some of us are still working! (Sorry David!)If Friday works out to be better I can probably make that.....I'll put it on my calendar.
Thanks Paul & Gail for doing this again!Current Bikes

Just a note regarding the ride to the canon museum in June. It looks like the date will be Saturday June the 20th. David Hogg has made a generous offer for those who would like to come in on Friday the 19th. He has a farm in the Aliceville, Al area with some indoor sleeping and camping facilities. This would make it more convenient getting to Starkville early (9:00 a.m.) Saturday morning. We are also finalizing plans for dinner Friday night, breakfast Saturday morning in route to the museum and possible a lunch stop on the way home!
For those coming in on Saturday morning, we'll try and arrange a place to meet up. Later... Paul ThorneGail

I have been talking with Paul and Gail about having anyone who can make it to my family farm near Aliceville on the Friday before the trip to see the canons. It will be about an hour's ride on Saturday morning, a bit longer if we stop by the bakery Paul has in mind. I have lots of room for camping and a few beds in my bunkhouse for those who, like me, are allergic to sleeping close to the ground. I don't think bathrooms will be a problem.
I plan to pull a couple of pork roasts for dinner and Gail has volunteered to bring dessert. Come any time on Friday and enjoy the rockers on the porch (adult beverages are appropriate) or just the remoteness of the place. I'll post directions closer to time and would like to have an estimate of how many are coming so as to prepare the meal.
I hope many of you will come. I love the solitude of the place but it is best enjoyed with friends.
David
