  • 2nd Saturday RTE - May 14, 2016 "Cheeseburger In Paradise"

Gary Nesmith will lead us on a great ride to the Pikeville Store N Deli in Scottsboro starting at Jack's ( I 59 - Ashville exit # 166). Kick stands up at 8 am sharp with a full tank and empty bladder. Be sure to top off your tank at the Texaco just before arriving at Jack's. Our next fuel stop is 172 miles at the Grant Chevron. If your bike doesn't have a 185 mile range, then you can get enough fuel at the Pikeville Store to make it to Grant (65 miles); they have 87 non ethanol which is OK to mix with your remaing 93 grade. (https://www.facebook.com/Pikeville-S...3933806647443/)

Our route will take us east on Gallant Road through Bucks Pocket S. P. and Langston to the Pikeville Store where we will meet Vernon's Huntsville group. Our estimated arrival time at the Pikeville Store is 10:10 am. If you are joining Gary's group there, please be ready to roll when we arrive because we will continue riding to the Crow Mountain Loop by way of the Rock Zoo and then back to Pikeville for lunch at 11 am (ish). After 11, the crowds are large and seating is difficult, so timing is important in order for us to be there before 11. After lunch, we will continue our ride on CR 21 to Paint Rock Valley (SR 65), Kell Mountain, and Butler Mill Road on the way to the Grant Chevron. After our fuel break, we will continue, by-passing downtown Guntersville, to where US 231 &79 split and stop at the Jet-Pep . Some of us will continue on US 231 through Oneonta back to Jack's/I-59 and others will continue on US 79 toward Birmingham. Total distance is 242 miles, Jack's to Jacks.

This ride is high on my favorite rides list and I think it will be up there on your list also. Please plan to join us for a great time and a great ride and the best Cheeseburger in Alabama.

Thank you Gary and Vernon for leading your segments.

You will win that bet Vance. I'm getting hungry just thinking about a cheeseburger at the Pikeville Store and I just finished lunch.

In this month's issue of Alabama Living COOP magazine, there is a good article about the Pikeville Store & Deli. I knew they were busy on weekends, but didn't realize just how busy they actually are.

Here is a PDF copy of the article.
