  • 2'nd Saturday RTE to Talk of the Town Restaurant in Houston, AL - August 13,2016

Tommy Crawford and David Hogg will lead a ride to the excellent Chef Troy's Talk of the Town restaurant in Houston, AL Saturday, 8/13/2016. http://www.cheftroystalkofthetown.com/. This is a great ride through the Bankhead National Forest on some wonderful roads. If you can't join us for the ride, come and have lunch with your fellow Alabeemers. While there, be sure to step across the street to see the historic old log jail. http://blog.al.com/strange-alabama/2...ouston_is.html

    Here are the ride details:

    Hi Bob,

David Hogg and I are planning a ride for Sat Aug 13. I will depart Hoover from Sneaky Pete's on Hwy 31 at 7:30 and meet up with David and the Jasper contingent at the intersection of Hwys 69 and 91 and will take a short break in Dodge City, as we will have been riding about an hour and 15 min by then. From there we will work our way around the NE part of Smith Lake on a somewhat circuitous route to Wren, AL where we will make another brief stop at a little county store at the intersection of Hwys 33 and 36. We will then head south on 33 through Bankhead National Forest to CR63 to Houston, AL to Talk of the Town restaurant for lunch. After lunch anyone interested in joining us can ride to David's house on Smith Lake for some cold beverages and a refreshing dip in the lake or they can head back to BHM via one of several route options. Attached is a GPX file of the route up and one with the quickest route from David's to I-22 to come back to BHM. Please forward to all of Martin's Saturday riders and let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks,
    Tommy

Jim, we should be there between 10:30 and 11:00. We will stop at the Trading Post which has a comfortable place to sit and wait. It is also worth a look around in the store.

Hope to see you and Suze tomorrow,

        David

That was another great ride indeed. Thanks to Tommy & Diana for putting it together and to Jake for his post ride hospitality...let's do it again real soon!
