  • 2nd Saturday Ride

In keeping with the tradition of our BMWMOAL unusual scheduling, we will take our February 2nd Saturday RTE on the third Saturday of February. Please join us on Feb.17, 2018 for our ride from Donut Joe’s in Pelham to Ezell’s Catfish Cabin on the banks of the Tomigbee Waterway in Lavaca, Alabama, and then ride to the Pie Lab in Greensboro for dessert. Side stands up at 8 am with a full tank and an empty bladder. The first fuel stop will be in Linden, AL (112 miles), and another one in Greensboro. The round trip is 267 miles and we should complete the ride in Alabaster at the Shell station @ I 65 & US 31 before 4:30 pm. The weather forecast calls for sunny skies and high 50s temps. Google Donut Joe’s, Ezell’s Catfish Cabin & Pie Lab for more details.

Thanks for posting Bob. through the magic of the internet, I let the southern group based in Mobile and and the NW FL club know about this and I understand there are some number of folks from down that way that plan to ride up and meet us at Ezell's. Heck we may have a bunch of bikes on the riverbank Saturday!

That would be great. Ezell's has plenty room for a large group without giving an advanced notice. However the Pie Lab is a smaller facility. Do you think the southern guys will join us for the the ride to Greensboro?

I doubt any of the southern riders will do that given the timing and the weather. Prolly just have some at Ezell's.

Who's going tomorrow? I am planning to meet the group at the Exxon in Montevallo. Look like there are several riders coming up from lower AL & FL to meet us at Ezell's. while it may not be the best weather day it is going to be warm and that makes it a good day!

Vance, Martin and I plus two that replied to the e-blast. Ezell's has never been a problem seating our groups, but I called the Pie Lab and have a place for 10 - 15 souls.

AccuWeather forecast calls for about 50% chance of rain showers in the Birmingham area, but less than 10% in Selma and Demopolis.

Where are the pictures? Wish we could have been there. I would have had to leave home at 5AM.

Good question Jim. I'll bring my camera next time and hopefully others will also. Six of us had a fun ride to Ezell's and an additional 25 + - folks from mobile and Pensacola joined us there. It was good to visit with friends that I haven't seen in a few years. On the way back to Birmingham, we stopped at the Pie Lab for dessert. I'm glad that place is 100 miles away from home.

Our next RTE will be going to a place closer to you. Details coming soon.
