Hello AlaBeemers! This month we will have a couple different scheduled rides. This will be the first of a series with a concerted effort to have more than one ride on any given Saturday. While everyone is encouraged to get out and ride, we will continue to try and offer new and different riding possibilities.
For the Central AlaBeemers, Bruce Wheatley will lead us from Edgar's Bakery at the Colonnade in Birmingham to The Shack BBQ Restaurant in Talladega. He will take us there by way of wonderful back roads and the “Pig Trail” to Mt. Cheaha. Sidestands up at 8 am with a full tank and an empty bladder.
Our first stop for a break is at the Mt. Cheaha Store (95 miles) and we will stop again for fuel at the Chevron in Talladega (136 miles) before arriving at The Shack BBQ Restaurant for lunch at 12:50 pm + -. The round trip distance is 189 miles and we should complete our ride at the Raceway Station on US 280 @ Hwy 119 before 3:30 pm. The AccuWeather forecast calls for cloudy skies and a high of 62*.
This is going to be a great ride over Alabama's highest mountains.
