  • 2nd Saturday RTE April 14, 2018 to the Rattlesnake Saloon

    Hello Alabeemers,

On April 14, 2018, Martin Benson will lead our 2nd Saturday RTE from the Hardees Restaurant at I-65 (exit 247) & Valleydale Road to the Rattlesnake Saloon near Tuscumbia, AL. “The Rattlesnake Saloon is a relaxed, funky watering hole under a giant rock with a menu of appetizers, burgers & sandwiches”. When we get there, we will leave our bikes in the parking area and ride down the hill to the Rattlesnake Saloon in the back of a pickup truck taxi. After lunch, we will ride to the Coon Dog Cemetery and while there, be sure to check out some of the heartfelt and humorous epitaphs on the grave markers. From the Coon Dog Cemetery, we will ride to the Flying J in Birmingham via of mostly back roads.

    • We roll at 8:00 am with a full tank and empty bladder. (The BP across from Hardees is no longer there. The closest fuel is at the Shell
station .9 miles SW on Valleydale Rd. @ Riverchase Parkway).
    • 1st fuel stop at the Chevron in Russellville, 11:40 ish - 137 miles
    • Arrive for lunch at the Rattlesnake Saloon 12:30 ish
    • 2nd fuel stop at the Winfield Shell – 100 miles
    • End of ride at the Flying J (I-65 exit 264)
    • Total round trip distance - 317 miles

No matter if you are here to enjoy the horseback riding and hiking trails and staying the night with us at Seven Springs Lodge or savoring the great food and live music under the rock at the Rattlesnake Saloon, you will agree this is an unique experience the whole family can enjoy.

            Hello Alabeemers,

The weather forecast in the Florence area calls for thunderstorms and the possibility of heavy rain all day Saturday, 14th. That coupled with Martin's not being able to lead our ride makes me think that it is best to cancel. Looking forward to seeing you for our May 2nd Saturday RTE.
