  • July Meeting at Fort Toulouse

Our July meeting will be in Wetumpka at Fort Toulouse Park camp ground.

I will be leading a day ride on Saturday, July 25th. This ride will be on mostly back roads at a moderate pace. The ride will be about 180 miles.

We will have a riders meeting at 8:45 AM and leave at 9:00 AM. Please be ready with a full tank of gas and an empty bladder.

Some of the stops we will make are ABEES POI’s in Wetumpka and Caperton’s store. Lunch will be at Sho’Nuf BBQ in Alexander City.

After lunch we will visit Horseshoe Bend National Military Park. Ron Riggins will give us a tour and information on the park. On our return to camp we will stop by Martin Dam and will ride one of the favorite rides.

For those that are collecting ABEES point we should get 11 POI’s, a BBQ joint and a power dam and two favorite rides.

We will return to camp in time for dinner at Casa Napoli Italian Restaurant.

I have attached a Garmin gps file of the ride.

Have a great National rally and I will see you all at Fort Toulouse.

Thanks for posting your ride information and the GPS route. This is going to be a fun ride on some excellent motorcycling roads. A highlight will be Ron's presentation at Horseshoe Bend and Ft Jackson/Toulouse.

Mari and I will have to miss this weekend We will be in IL at her family reunion that we missed last year. To miss two years in a row would be a BIG mistake on my part. After all, many of you know both Linda and Angie!

We will miss seeing everyone. Be safe, ride safe and have fun!

Looking like I will be able to make this one. I plan on leaving when I get off work in the am. Bike is packed and ready to go. I am thinking of things I have forgotten, like my coffee cup!

Martin, I downloaded the gps file for your ride. If I am not there by 0845, I will catch up to you some where along the route.

I'm looking forward to my first meeting! See ya'll in the am.

              Good news Noah.

Martin's ride is a good one and Professor Ron's talk at Horseshoe Bend and Ft. Jackson will be very informative. He gave us a tour there a few years ago and it was excellent. Folks that do not join us for this ride will really be missing a good time.

It was good to see you arrive at Ft. Toulouse in time for Martin's ride.

                        Martin.

Thanks for organizing and leading another great ride. The roads were excellent and the BBQ at Sho'nuf was some of the best available anywhere. Thanks also to Ron for helping you with the tour at Horseshoe Bend. I enjoyed very much seeing the park ranger giving us the demonstration in his 1814 uniform of how the early 1800s Springfield flintlock musket was loaded and fired.
