The winner of the 50/50 pot at the rally won $575.00.
Later on, he found me, and asked if we did anything with the charity that Bob's BMW sponsors. I told him no, that we mainly supported our local state Head Injury Foundation and the Motorcycle Safety Foundation.
He took two or three steps away and turned his back. Meanwhile someone else walked up to ask me a question. As soon as they walked away, he came back up to me and handed me $500.00 back of his winnings and asked me to specifically add that to our Head Injury Foundation Donation. WOW!!
The guy could have
A. Kept his winnings
B. Took it and gave it to Bob's BMW for the charity they sponsor
C. Took it and given it any other source of his choice in his own name.
But he chose to give it back to us. Which means our club gets the credit for the added money when we send it to the Head Injury Foundation.
All I know is the guys' first name is Terry. And Jimmy Lowe captured a shot of him when taking pictures of various rally goers, although it was before he ever won the money.
What a nice, nice guy. I thanked him again later that evening when I saw him while the band was playing. I also pointed him out to Vance who also took an opportunity to go and thank him.
If I can figure out his last name (maybe from the registration forms) I will make sure he gets a newsletter (good suggestion Jim).
I'm pretty sure he doesn't want a lot of hoopla over it or he would have made sure I knew his name. Folks like that usually aren't looking for credit, they are just plain good people. My theory anyway.
