That sounds like a plan.... we do take a look at Street and Trips and see the basic features better on big screen... do a few routes and look at downloads to GPS...likewise to compare to BaseCamp...

As mentioned to Bob, let me get the Eldridge Benefit behind me a few days...

Think what day would be best at the shop....for you and then us.

Oh great, just when I thought I had this Mapsource/GPS thing figud out. I'm beginning to dislike this technology stuff. Gonna have to learn this stuff all over again, now where's my hammer?

Yep, changes before you throw away the box it came in... BaseCamp, is akin to MapSource...features look alike...however the way you do things is somewhat different.... they modeled it after ITunes database...that tells you somthing...always thought ITunes was hard to manage....

What I like about BaseCamp, all your actions are saved on exit in your master folder... If you want to save routes or waypoints to a certain folder you create a sub folder in under Master folder...for example if you wanted save all your favorite places to eat in Louisiana, you could have a folder called Louisiana and then a sub folder call Great Places to EAt... also in that Louisiana folder you could have routes sub folder or rally rides routes in another sub folder...

Instead of having to go to My Computer: Drive C: Documents: My Garmin: Routes: File then select the file... You can look to the left side of map and have all your Map data handy in folders and sub folders.

So, if you have a Folder call Alabama with all your favorite data saved in those folders.....so you heading to Alabama for a few days of riding...you can upload your entire Alabama folder to your GPS and the data will be there in routes and favorites or select on certain routes and points to load.

On one forum I belong to .. information is always requested for things to do and places to see in the Natchez Trace area... I have a folder (building it now) called Natchez Trace with all the great places to see, eat and ride along the Trace...with routes off the Trace, like to Coondog cemetery or Rattlesnake saloon as well as place in Florence al. ( working on Tupelo to North End )...

With all that said... Microsoft Street and Trips it the much easier to work with IMO... I use it for a quick look at a route or to pre plan my route....now with newer versions of M S&T you can upload directly to your GPS...(most of them)...

And I am not much of "staying on a route" person , except thru cities...or finding a certain address.... I am more of a waypoint person... I like to save places or waypoints... that way when I get near them on my GPS, it give me a running list of my waypoints and distance.... time to eat...punch in the place in favorites...route to it and go eat.

Side note, Bob the other day I was looking at some info in google... I came across Multnomah Falls up in Oregon been there couple times... well I see a bar that say...see images , heck all the images had your name as the credit.... even had the amazing Wanda's picture in them too...talk about world wide famous...

Itunes, I-pods, notebooks/pads, Razors, Galaxys, MP3. Don, you're talking to a guy who's cell phone is just a cell phone, no camera, e-mail, or "apps". The only "app" I have is the phone "app". Up untill about two years ago I navigated by "dead reckoning", I reckon I'll take this road. I just hate learnin' all the new gadgets and most of the time the instructions are written by computor geeks and I don't speak "Geekeese". When I taught myself to use my computor I had the mouse in one hand and a hammer in the other. I don't know if it was fortunate or not but the mouse won.
Wanda and I did drive through the Columbia River Gorge this year on our way to Vancouver for the Alaskan cruise, beautiful area and the ride along the old highway with all of the falls was really nice. They must have pulled my pictures off of Picasa for Google. Nice to be "famous".
