A lot of folks who may not know Erik personally, myself included, are following the posts on this horrible incident to one of our own. Our hearts and wishes and prayers for a speedy recovery are with you Erik, though knowing it will be a long road.

I'm sure many others, as I do, experience the almost daily ordeal of other drivers cutting over a lane on us, or pulling out in front of us while we're on two wheels, realizing that our lives are in our hands but so much depends on the common sense of all the motorists around us. That being said, while the focus needs to be on your recovery, my feelings over your ordeal are also mixed with anger at the person that did this, to put it mildly. Please keep us posted on the search for the individual at fault.

We wish you well in your recovery, and we are all thinking of you.

Today was a good day. I have been wearing a hospital gown since 6/26. I put on shorts and a t-shirt. Felt great. Transfered into a wheel chair sitting up and using a plank to slide down into the wheelchair. Then outside to do some physical therapy. Afterwords, I sat outside and enjoyed being outside for the first time since 6/26.

I have not seen photos of the bike. John Ziebell went out and stripped off a few accessories prior to the trip to the salvage yard. That was a big help. He said the bike was mangled pretty bad and there are really no parts to salvage.

It's great to hear from you Erik --- especially to hear you wore some clothes!

Seriously, I know that wearing something other than that hospital gown is a great feeling. Very happy to hear you had a good day.

Remember that we're here for the bad days as well. We can listen, sympathize, and hopefully make you laugh (when it won't be painful).

Let me know when you are ready for some midnight snacks. I can't send chicken salad sandwiches but I can send a few goodies to keep in your room.

Eric, It's great to hear from you. I am so glad you are now able to post on the
site and keep us updated on your recovery. I know it won't be easy, but with
your upbeat and positive attitude "back to normal" will be here before you know it. Looking forward to sitting around the campfire and talk about old beemers that we have known and loved. Gary

                  Eric and Jennifer

Hadn't been on the site lately, Jim told me about what happened at work yesterday, Rhonda and I just went through the posts. Devastated. I hate to hear about this sort of thing, and I wish you both speedy recovery. Eric know you and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers...

                    Hi Erik!
Glad you are able to post and keep us updated. Paul & I are very sorry about your situation but wish you all the best, and most of all a speedy recovery. At least your teeth are ok and you won't have to wear those "hillbilly" ones you have! Also, glad to hear you are out of the hospital gown. Gail & Paul

That chicken salad sounds good for sure. Today I had therapy and got in the chair for about 3.5 hours. Would have liked to been in it a little longer, but they are short staffed on the weekend. The people I needed to assist with the transfer were leaving at 3. Jennifer and Emily came by with one of our cats. She helped me with the first shave since the weekend of the 26th of June. That sure felt good. I believe that most people that have seen me would agree that skin damage was minimal. Aside from some bruising, the gear protected me well. Obviously, most of it was cut off of me.

I would love to see that Erik. A cat that can shave! You may have a traveling side show there.

Glad that you are feeling upbeat and ready to heal. Remember though, slow and steady for a healthy recovery.

Eric, do you think an Airhead motor would fit in that wheel chair? If so I may can round one up.

Hi Eric, glad to hear that your recovery is progressing well. Take it slow and mend strong. I know that it's hard not being able to get out and about, I was laid up with a broken ankle years ago and that was just for 6 0r 7 weeks so I know it's tough. I can only imagine how it must be to be even more imobilized. Heal strong "Peanut". Hope you'll be back in the saddle again for the next "Cajun Chaos". We're going to grow some extra big crawfish for ya. Keep us informed of your progress.
