  • Dixie To Deadhorse!

Let the adventure begin! Gary Nesmith, Jim Kalahan and Russ Kruse and I are departing this Saturday June 22 for our trip to Alaska and the MOA rally in Salem, OR. We have planned this over the last year or so. In that time you would think we have thought of everything...but the truth is I guess we won't know what we have forgotten until after we leave. However we think we are set and ready, and all the riders are looking forward to it. We thought it might be interesting to post here to the forum as we go along the way as much as we can. If you would like to follow along or just check on us every now and then, here is the link to the Spot Tracker we will be carrying https://spotwalla.com/tripViewer.php...a51ad32433172e . If all goes well, we should be back around July 28!! In the mean time, we will try to post updates as we have the means to do so!!

    Off we go!

I was not jealous until I looked at spotwalla and saw where they were already. You all know that you don't have to wonder if they are having fun.

IMGP0129.jpgIMGP0136.jpgIMGP0147.jpgIMGP0132.jpgIMGP0141.jpgEnd of Day 2....we are holed up in Gillette, WY tonight. Our two day total is 1560 something or other miles. Hot for the launch day yesterday so we stopped about 200 miles short of our intended stop in Sioux City, IA. Determined we would make that up today and we did so here in Gillette tonight we are back on our schedule. We rode through about 50 miles of a really blustery thunderstorm complete with torrential rain and wind from every direction punctuated with those nice vertical lightning bolts that we all love to ride in...lol.

Our reward however for punching through that mess was beautiful weather the rest of the day with gorgeous blue skies full of white puffy clouds...riding temps in the high sixties and low seventies.

The forecast has it changing tomorrow to even colder temps. It seems strange to be unpacking the cold weather gear for tomorrow!! Here are a couple shots...remember we have been "saddled up" since we left....I have to make myself take pictures!! lol....

We will be in West Glacier, MT tomorrow night and ready to ride through Glacier NP on Tuesday. More updates as we have connectivity!

Vance, If you venture into Waterton Canada in Glacier Park you must eat at Trappers Mountain Grill. It is owned by my niece and her husband Steve and Debbie West. Tell them that I sent you and to send me the bill for desert.

Thanks Jim for the heads up! We are scheduled to be right through there tomorrow. And since you are buying all of our lunches...we'll handle the deserts!
