  • Primitive Campout In January

I just received this from the guy in MS that sponsors this event. I know Jim K, Russ Kruse and Sam Peacock can add some more information if anyone has any questions! They are veterans of last year's event!!

The 20th annual. The Real! The Original!, FACOWIE-FROZENWHITEBOY winter camp-out will take place the weekend of January 14-17 at Paul B. Johnson State Park, just south of Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Cost is $13 per night camping fee. The campsite is the primitive camping area of the park. Hot showers and restrooms are within a few hundred feet of the tenting area. Gas, beer and food are available 3 miles away. Better food and booze are 5 and 10 miles away. Campsite is lakeside if fishing is an interest. There are several curvy and nice back roads nearby. We always have a good fire and plenty wood for the weekend; food is on your own. Fire walking is optional.
Traditionally this is not a family affair (i.e. no children), but is meant to be a worry free gathering of "Mountain Men and Women" riders for a cold weather, primitive style camp out. Despite the name this camp out is open to all civilized adult riders and all are welcome. For more information and/or directions, call at 601-307-2088 or email SSNOD@yahoo.com

To set the record straight, there were four(4) people at last years event.
Russ Kruse,Sam Peacock and myself from Alabama and one(1) person from Mississippi who came in a truck and he was the sponser of the event. Rained most of the event or misted except for the ride home. Still had a good time and tried as hard as we could to burn up all the wood they brought but still had to leave some.

Would be great to get a few more Alabeemers there even if the weather is a little chilly. Wouldn't want to be known as "Fair Weather" only riders and i hear Eric has some new cold weather ridin' gear.

I plan to be there and hope to see you there too.

You are right Jim. That might be the perfect event to test out my new Gerbings!

I believe this rally was initially started in honor of General Robert E. Lee birthday. A good reason to have a rally! Gail

I will be home on the 7th for a few weeks so this is a very good possibility for me. The little lady is not interested though. I will have to get "Louise" all warmed up and ready!

Unfortunately I will not make this as I will be in CA that weekend. But I know the MOAL will be well represented by you hearty boys from the south. I will want a full recount of how it goes!

              and welcome home Steve!

Sorry to say that I will not Jim. I fly in to Dothan on the 7th of Jan and back out again on the 26th. I just hope the weather cooperates enough for me to ride to this event.

Looks like I cannot make this one. I have a weekend planned in Birmingham with the girls and their fellas. I will get out for a ride though on "Louise". Have a fun time without me.
