  • Shellmound 2010 Club Ride

    Hi Alabeemers.

Here is another good reason to go to Shellmound this weekend. We are going to work up an appetite for Tommy and Jeannine's outstanding BBQ and trimmings dinner by riding the mountain roads above Nickijack Lake. We will leave the camp ground at 9-9:30 (eastern time) am on SR 27 to Powell's Cross Roads then southeast on Suck Creek Road then northeast on the W Road to east along the Brow Road before riding down the mountain to Pandora's.

Justin and the gang are going to have Subway sandwiches and beverages ready for our complementary lunch. After lunch and visiting Pandora's, we will head back to the camp ground via the W Road to US 127 then southwest on SR 283 and SR 27.

The route goes along some of the very best roads in the area. The W Road reminds me a little of some of the pass roads in the Swiss Alps and is one of the most technically complex rides in the southeast. You will definitely need to be in first gear and looking where you want to go on this great motorcycling road.

We should return to the camp ground at 3:30 ish.

Please have a full tank of fuel and and empty bladder (FTEB) prior to our 9:30 (eastern time) departure.

Pandora's will be happy to know that the Swamp people are coming. Maybe they can find some mud bugs and French bread Po Boboys in your honor.

Looking forward to seeing you and Wanda tomorrow.

Bob, you do realize the Bama/Arkansas game starts at 2:30. Yes, it is a big deal.

I'll be on the ride Bob, the ball game will just be another boring lopsided slaughter.

            Hey Jamie.

I know about the Alabama/Ark. game and there is a real good chance we will be back in time for the kick-off. The ride is 112 miles which will take 3 hours plus stops. If we can hold our stops down to one hour or so, we should be back at 1:30 ish. My estimate was conservative just in case something happened along the way. If I said we would be back in time for the game and didn't make it, I know I would catch the dickens and probably not be forgiven .

We have to keep our priorities straight. I want to see all of the game, but we are a motorcycle club going to a motorcycling event, and riding our motorcycles is what it is all about, especially when all of those excellent motorcycling roads are calling for us to come ride. If some of our members want to see just a little bit of what some of the pass roads are like in the Alps, this is a great opportunity to do so when we ride the W.

Finally, it looks like we are going to have some cooler weather and I look forward to seeing many Alabeemers this weekend

                'Connie.

Get the recipe from Jeannine and cook up some fried pies in one of your new pots. I know it won't be as good, but it may make you feel a little better .

They sure do, but Justin and the gang will be at Shellmound by five and the game won't be over till 5:30 - 6:00.

I definitely plan to take advantage of one of their very comfortable sofas when we get there.

Bob, Justin was having to hire someone to haul off his wooden palets and crates. If we need wood for fire....if he has some pallets I could come over in my truck one trip. Just saying.

Hey Don. That is a great idea. I know Tommy has to buy firewood for our meetings and the camp ground host delivers it on her golf cart. Please contact Tommy to see what he needs. It is better to call him. He does not check emails often.

Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow.
