  • I am till enjoying your travels.... enjoy the cool weather for all of us..

As Bob stated as you head to Bay of Fundy.... just north Bar Harbour there is town of Eastport, there you can catch a ferry to Deer Island, the ferry captain will radio ahead and customs will meet you at the ferry as you depart, a simple fast crossing into New Brunswich and can save you time as well... while on the island, the 45th Parrell Motel and Cafe... the cafe is nice, small and clean and I may suggest the Lobster roll sandwich... you catch a second ferry to near St. George.... nice ride and experience

Enjoy the ride... keep those cards and letters coming.

Hey Guys, I am really enjoying reading excerpts of your trip to Ken. So great that you are able to do this and looking forward to your next post.

Thanks for the great suggestions but they came a little too late. We actually did ride up to Lubec, ME and visited the Quoddy Head lighthouse which is the most eastern point in the US. We rode over into New Brunswick but were only there long enough to visit the Roosevelt-Campobello International Park. We weren't real smart and forgot our passports when we left here and were not sure we could even get across after driving the 100+ miles. Was interesting seeing the Roosevelt "cottage" with its 16 bedrooms.
We will be visiting FDR's other home in New Hyde Park, NY later in the trip.
We are going to leave here Monday, going back into New Hampshire and Vermont then on to Hunter, NY for the non-rally that BMWMOA is having there early next month. Since we don't have to be in DC till the end of October we are just easing that way hoping to catch as much of the fall foliage as we can.
We are still enjoying this area and especially Acadia but feel like it is time to see something else. More later as time and wi-fi allows.

Thanks Don for the link. Aren't those great pictures? I agree with Vance, what a story he will have for his classmates and the pictures to back it up.
We are spending a few days in Vermont, Quechee Gorge to be exact. We came through this area to catch 2 national historic sites, Saint-Gaudens and Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller and like it so much we decided to stay for awhile. We are expecting the leaves to really begin to turn in the next week, and our route to Hunter, NY takes us down what is supposed to be the prettiest route in Vermont for foliage viewing. After the Color in the Catskills regional rally in Hunter, we will head south towards the Hudson River valley then on to Lancaster and Gettysburg, PA.
It is already cool at night here, down to 36 Saturday night, but the days are perfect, sunny and in the high 60's to low 70's...wonderful riding weather.
We may go in search of covered bridges to ride through tomorrow.
                More later as we can.

                • Hudson River Valley has some great National Parks sites....tell the Vanderbilts hello for me...

If you get down in the Amish country...in the town of Intercourse, look for Lapp's Coach Shop... Abner is the owner... look for the giant Singer sewing machine and the look up at the ceiling fans, all run by air and cylinders... He also builts headlights and brake lights for buggies...and rebuilt buggies...

Tell him I sent you, the motorcyclist from Guin Al. and if he has time...and wants to show you the place....take the time...amazing how the machines and store is run by a giant air compressor and tank....he can store enough air to air up every tire in Pennsylvania.

Also go hungry to Intercourse Pa, and stop in at Stoltzfus Farm Resturant...one price and they just keep bringing out the food....Great Amish food....but go hungry at lunch....

If Anna is working as waitress, tell her hello from the folks in Guin, AL

Don and Barbara are hitting this area at it's best, the Amish harvest is worth a trip there.... I keep saying I am going to go and work on a Amish farm during harvest...I know a couple of guys that do that every other year...

Have fun ya'll and keep those cards and letters coming.

Well we made it to Color in the Catskills as you have already heard and were thrilled and amazed to see Lenn there. The funny thing is that I had just told Don the one thing I missed about being so far from home was not being able to see anyone we know, and Lenn walked by at that exact moment. What are the chances???
We enjoyed the non-rally but are really perturbed about the $60.00 they charged us for 2 nights camping when there were no showers or other niceties.
We spent last week in the Hudson Valley visiting all the historical places there. We visited the Vanderbilt Mansion (Sorry Don we couldn't find a one of them home to pass along your regards), the Mills Mansion, the homes of Martin VanBuren, FDR, and Eleanor Roosevelt's Val-Kil cottage. Of all of those places, Eleanor's was the one I would most like to visit, the most comfy.
The leaves are beautiful in Vermont and in the Catskills but hardly changing on the eastern side of the Hudson. I think we will be riding through the Poconos tomorrow on our way to the Lancaster-Intercourse area.
We will see if we can find the Stoltzfus Farm Restaurant. We came through Holmes County Ohio last month at harvest time on the Amish farms and I have never seen such beautiful vegetables as they were selling at one of the stands. Hopefully we can find
                        the same thing in Pennsylvania.
After that, we are heading to Gettysburg and Antietam and taking in some more history.
                        More later.

And spending most of it in a tent is a real test. I've not seen such dedication. Wonder what he promised her.

Hello from Pennsylvania, Chambersburg to be exact. We spent several days in Lancaster County and visited Intercourse several times. We visited Lapp's
Coach Shop where we found some beautiful furniture. I figure Don Norwood should chip in since it was his idea we visit there (ha ha). We also visited Stoltzfus Farm Restaurant and enjoyed it, but then we found Shady Maple Smörgåsbord. It was so wonderful that I threatened to move my tent to the parking lot.
We visited Hershey Thursday but not for the free candy. They have a really good antique car museum there and they were having a car show with lots of cars for sale. I found a great 1930's Lincoln Limo that I thought Don could drive me around in but it had already been sold so I missed out on that one. I also found a beautifully restored 1956 Chevy Bel Air convertible but Don thought the $95,000 price tag was a little too high. Can you believe it????
We spent yesterday at the Gettysburg Battlefield visitor center and today touring the battlefield. We will try to finish the tour tomorrow and then head south to Maryland and then to our kid's house in Springfield, Va.
In answer to Terese's post, Don and I are truly blessed in that not only do we love each other, we really LIKE each other. We love being together no matter what we are doing but especially when we travel, but we share a lot of other interests besides riding, another blessing.
As for Jim, remind me at the Christmas party and I will whisper the answer to your question in your ear.
More later as we explore the sights around Washington.

                                Thanks for the update.....
