  • Info needed about the Ribfest

Now that it is only a month away and I have planned a vacation around this event, I would like some info on the place and the event. Who is going to be there besides the Alabama club? Are showers and toilets available? Is there shade for camping? Is there a store close by for beverages? This will be Suz'annes first camping trip on the bike and I want her to enjoy it.

See you all in a month!

    Hi Steve.

The place where we will be camping is on Lee Wagner's farm outside of Centerville, Tennessee (approximately at Coord. N35 52.194 W87 26.553) which is a wonderful setting with a plush grass pasture lined by trees. The approach to the farm is on a well packed chert road and you will cross Bell Branch Creek over an under-water bridge. The only facility is a first class out -house; no running water, 'cept for the creek. Get Suz-anne to contact Connie about what she does when there are no showers available. She's an expert when it comes to ladies camping.

Beer is available at the Exxon, about 4 miles from Lee's farm, at the corner of Hwy 100 and Hwy 48, but to the best of my knowledge, liquor is not available in Hickman County.

We have been invited to join the Nashville BMW group for their Club Ribfest, so you will enjoy meeting many of the fine Nashville Club members there including Connie's Mom, Polly.

Lee's neighbors bring their big grill and do the BBQing which is a good as it gets.

Sure sounds fun guys and we were looking forward to it for sure. However I am a required attendee at a meeting in Johnson City that weekend to work on......well you know..... You guys enjoy that event and know that we would really liked to have been there.

That is a beautiful area for sure. Just back through there on Tuesday this week form STL and down TN 230. New pavement cornbread...brand new pavement....awesome ride for sure!

Thanks for the report Puddin. Tennessee 230 which runs between Hwy 50 and Hwy 100 going through Littlelot is indeed a fun road to ride and will be even better now that is has been repaved. It is also a good route to take to avoid going through Centerville.

We will miss seeing you and Mari at the Ribfest.

Thanks for the info Uncle Bob. I am sure Suz'anne will be thrilled with the accomodations. It sounds like fun to me so we won't tell her. I know I am evil but that is what the extreeme heat does to you.

Dang Vance. We will miss you and Mari. It won't be the same around the campfire tellin lies without you.

Take care and we will see most of you soon.

            Welcome Steve.

Suz'anne is going to be in for a great surprise , especially when you make your left turn off the chert road onto the under water bridge. I'll wager she will really like Lee's one holer out house too.

The only saving grace for me is that if she is a bit upset with me , I will get to leave again for another 3 months. She will be fine.

                Morning Steve.

Hopefully it won't be that much of a problem for her and she will have a really good time. The location is a wonderful setting and Lee's out house with its amenities is a sight to see. The chert approach road is well packed and is about as good as pavement, and its a good ride too. The under water bridge is easy to cross, so you won't have a problem with the crossing and if it is your first time to make a crossing like that, it will be a good experience. There will be folks there in autos, so if Suz'anne is nervous about crossing the creek on the bike, she can get a ride across.

Lee has a great camp fire and telling lies around it is a blast. The BBQ and trimmings are fantastic too.

Be sure to bring warm jackets, flash lights and your Kermit Chairs. Rather than a morning shower, I use my Miracle Cloth with just a bit of soap & bottled water. It does a good job cleaning the body and hair and almost makes you feel like you took a shower.

Hopefully Lee Waggner will be at this months meeting to answer all those questions. And if he's not able to come at the last minute for some reason I will send him a questionnaire later.

                    And Steve,

A bottle of "No Rinse Body Wash" and a few extra wash cloths even eliminates the need for water or rinsing off regular soap. Makes you feel clean too, not at all any sticky residue, etc. I'll have a bottle with me so if you can't find some to pack we'll let her borrow mine. Just bring extra washcloths.

And if you don't have Travel Johns, may need to scare up some of those. Very very nice to use "in tent" and not have to travel out to the outhouse at night. She'll appreciate those even if she don't know it yet !!! hehe

And dont' forget the "extra warm layers of clothing", for just in case cold weather. Extra blanket, girls get cold at night, extra socks, knit hat for sleeping, girls get cold at night, and probably all the clothes you packed for yourself, girls get cold at night..................hahahahaha..............wha t does she drink?.........extra of that too if she does.

                              Now Uncle Bob,

Are you saying that Suz'anne NEEDS a large sleeping bag? That's not very nice.
